We organized a concert in a partnership with festival Blues sur Seine on saturday 22nd November 2025. The performer was Kévin Denard and he was absolutely fantastic !
Kévin is a blues player from the south of France and he plays multiple instruments - guitar, cigar box guitar, banjo and mohan weena. Mohan weena is a guitar that has extra string, similar to sitar. It seems there is no tuning for this guitar, you tune it that fits you and your melodies. So the concert was an extremely interesting mix of blues and Indian sounds. The sound was fantastic, Blues sur Seine brought their sonorisation and sound technicians and everything was perfect.
People loved it ! I stopped counting at 75 persons. Some went out, mostly kids or ados, but others entered. So in terms of visitors, absolute success ! The music was fantastic ! Keving plays his guitars by putting them on his knees and then using a slide to play. With his feet he plays drum bass and snare. So there is rhythm and melody, and he sings. It's blues, but super chill, super spiritual and we were all traveling far from our daily thoughts. I cried a little when he covered "I'm on Fire" by Bruce Springsteen. The sliding effect is so good, it tickled my heart.
It seems Kévind has a big percentage of deafness, since he is 5 years old, and he wears the machine on ears. He talked about it and how music saved him, and he was emotional and vulnerable and said that no matter the handicap, we can get through and find a way to express ourselves. It was extremely powerful message and everybody appreciated this moment. I thought about my health situation and his words inspired me to keep on.
This was the last concert of BLues sur Seine festival and I was happy that it was a success. I hope we will continue this partnership. Everybody said they loved the concert ! Kévin Denard is awesome and I wish him a great success in his music career.
